Borussia Dortmund can go to the Champions League final without the help of a single superstar. They are getting dangerously near to Wembley after defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in Dortmund. A difficult second leg in Paris is coming up, but the underdogs are prepared to pull off a spectacular upset.
While PSG’s star-studded squad is every fantasy football player’s dream (or nightmare), Dortmund has constructed a winning team via astute growth, smart transfers, and perseverance in the face of numerous talents leaving for wealthier teams. The fact that players who aren’t household names, like Nico Schlotterbeck and Niclas Füllkrug, have the same level of success as seasoned veterans like Mats Hummels is a credit to coach Edin Terzic.
