Oklahoma Narrowly Escapes Upset Against Houston, Raises Concerns

The Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Houston Cougars by a razor-thin margin of 33-29 in a thrilling Week 2 game. The Sooners battled throughout the game despite being strong favorites, just managing to secure their second victory of the year. There are doubts about Oklahoma’s preparedness to compete for the Big 12 championship after this near miss.
Derogatory Inconsistency
Throughout the game, Oklahoma’s attack, which is often explosive, faltered and was unable to maintain drives or move the ball consistently. Unusually for his career, quarterback Dillon Gabriel only completed 15 of his 29 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown on the day.
With Eric Gray up against a formidable Houston defensive line, the ground game also had trouble getting going.
